# System Monitoring & WiFi Connections

![System Monitoring & WiFi Connections](https://resinc.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/System-Monitoring-WiFi-Connections-1024x536.webp)

While in many cases you can still view your system production on the inverter’s LCD screen, many manufacturers have recently transitioned to screenless inverters. This change reduces potential component failure but can sometimes cause frustration during setup. Despite this, the benefits of real-time monitoring via smartphones or computers are significant:

- Instant access to system performance data, including panel-level monitoring, consumption, grid feed-in, grid imports, and battery performance.
- Capability to review historical performance over adjustable time periods.
- Reporting functionality for system performance.
- Ability to receive notifications for suboptimal system performance or errors.
- Provision of data to optimize energy utilization, such as timing loads to coincide with high grid voltage or adjusting consumption to avoid drawing from the grid.
- Assurance of system safety.

### Set Up Requirements:

To ensure your inverter integrates smoothly with your home network, here are the key requirements for monitoring:

- A robust WiFi connection at the inverter’s location.
- A WiFi network operating at 2.4 GHz.
- A WiFi-enabled inverter or a supplementary device enabling WiFi connectivity.

Hot-spotting the inverter’s internet connection is discouraged as it only uploads data while connected rather than providing ongoing, real-time reports. If WiFi connectivity is unavailable, a wired LAN connection may be a viable alternative.

### Monitoring Failures:

Failures or disconnections can occur due to several reasons, leading customers to seek assistance in reconnecting their inverters to monitoring platforms:

- Change in internet service provider.
- Transition to the NBN network.
- Difficulty maintaining a stable WiFi connection, which can often be resolved by using a WiFi extender.
- External interference.

### How to Reconnect:

In the event of monitoring failure, we understand the frustration and offer assistance:

If you cannot establish WiFi connectivity, you may require a technician’s assistance. Please note that monitoring is the customer’s responsibility and is excluded under warranty. Onsite assistance incurs a service charge of $165, provided during our next visit to your local area.

### Alternatives to WiFi Connection:

If WiFi is unreliable, other options include:

- **Hardwiring the inverter** via a CAT 5 cable for a guaranteed connection. This may incur additional costs depending on the modem’s location.
- **Inline power adapters**, which utilize existing wiring and typically plug into a general power outlet (GPO) to create a stable, high-speed network between the modem and inverter. This option may also involve additional component costs.

### Let’s continue building a brighter, more sustainable world – together.
