What is an energy audit?
An energy audit is a comprehensive assessment of your site’s energy consumption and performance. Our engineers analyse how your business uses electricity across lighting, HVAC, plant/equipment, and operations — identifying where energy is being wasted and where immediate savings can be achieved.

What is M&V?
Measurement and Verification (M&V) is the process of planning, measuring, collecting, and analysing energy consumption data. It involves comparing a site’s energy usage before and after implementing an Energy Efficiency Measure (EEM), supported by mathematical modelling and data analysis.
Verification ensures that the EEM is functioning as expected and continues to operate effectively. Certificates for abatement can be awarded for the energy savings achieved as a result of verified EEMs.
How M&V works
Energy savings are quantified through:
Measuring energy consumption
Collecting operational site data (e.g., weather, production hours)
Modelling energy usage before and after the implementation of EEMs
The process includes:
Baseline Energy Model – Created before EEM implementation to reflect how and why the site uses energy.
Operating Energy Model – Developed post-implementation to reflect current energy consumption.
Avoided Energy (i.e., the energy savings) is calculated by comparing the Baseline and Operating Energy models. A visual chart can represent this process and the savings determined.
Measurement periods must capture a full operational cycle of the site. Depending on the project, this may range from 3 to 12 months.
Creating certificates using M&V
Carbon Credits Generated through federal-based schemes:
- Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU): Credits based on measurable emission reductions.
- Carbon Credits: Internationally recognised across all emission scopes.
White Certificates Generated through state-based schemes:
- Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs)
- Energy Saving Certificates (ESCs)
- Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS)
Note: White Certificates do not qualify as carbon offsets for Net Zero or Carbon Neutral certification but are monetisable and can reduce CapEx. Emissions reductions can also contribute toward internal carbon goals.
